The short version:

To turn an English (AD) date into a Nepali (BS) date, add 56 or 57 to the year and then find the exact BS month and day — which needs the real month lengths for that year. The quickest way is an AD to BS date converter.

Convert English to Nepali date

Open the free Nepali date converter, switch to AD → BS and enter the date. You get the BS date and weekday instantly.

Step by step

  1. Open the [date converter](/date-converter) and choose AD → BS.
  2. Enter the English year, month and day.
  3. Read the BS date — for example Bhadra 30, 2083 — and the weekday, which is the same in both calendars.
  4. Write it in Nepali if needed: २०८३ भाद्र ३० (see how to read a Nepali date).

Work out the BS year in your head

  • Mid-April to 31 December: BS year = AD year + 57.
  • 1 January to mid-April: BS year = AD year + 56.

The month and day still need a converter or calendar, because BS months are 29 to 32 days long and start around the middle of English months.
