Tax & Nepal IRD Workpapers
VAT, TDS and statutory registers, driven by a reviewed fiscal-year contract
What Tax & Compliance is for
KhataIN organizes tax registrations, registers, reconciliations, workpapers, returns and supporting evidence. It does not replace professional advice or claim a filing occurred unless it was actually submitted.
Before you start
Complete the Tax Profile and confirm the fiscal year, PAN, registrations, filing cadence and IRD office before relying on tax outputs.
Compliance workflow
Follow the workflow in order and keep KhataIN status aligned with the real filing process.
- 1Configure
- 2Record
- 3Review
- 4Reconcile
- 5Prepare
- 6File through applicable process
- 7Record completion
Use the Tax workspaces in order
Each workspace answers a different compliance question.
What happens next?
Tax outputs follow the status of source transactions, reconciliation and the real filing process. KhataIN distinguishes preparation from submission.
- After transactions are posted
- Applicable records appear in the Tax Register using the configured profile and reviewed fiscal-year tax contract.
- After reconciliation
- Differences between the register and general ledger are identified for correction before return preparation.
- After preparing a return
- Workpapers and values are ready for review and the applicable IRD process; preparation does not itself mean filing occurred.
- After filing outside KhataIN
- Record the actual submission reference, acknowledgement, payment evidence or certificate so status matches what happened with IRD.
Keep the filing evidence
Store acknowledgements, payment receipts, correspondence and certificates with the correct period. KhataIN’s clearance workspace can assess readiness and organize evidence, but IRD alone issues an actual tax clearance certificate.
- Payment evidence
- Retain bank vouchers and IRD deposit evidence against the correct obligation.
- Filed-period changes
- Review alerts when underlying books change after a period was prepared or filed.
- Clearance
- Prepare and track the evidence pack; record the certificate only after IRD issues it. Open ↗
Avoid common mistakes
Check these points before preparing or marking a tax obligation complete.
- Complete the Tax Profile first
- Registrations and filing settings determine which obligations and workspaces apply.
- Do not assume one treatment fits every transaction
- Classification depends on the transaction, registration and applicable reviewed rules.
- Reconcile before preparing
- A final total is not reliable when source transactions or ledger mappings differ.
- Preparation is not filing
- Do not mark an obligation submitted until the applicable IRD process actually occurred.
- Do not ignore changes to filed periods
- Later changes to underlying books may require review, amendment or additional evidence.
- Keep supporting records
- Invoices, bills, acknowledgements, payments and correspondence support the reported position.
