To count the days between two Nepali dates, add up the days left in the first month, the full months in between (using each month's real length) and the days in the last month. Decide first whether the end date is counted.

Count the days between two BS dates
Take Shrawan 1, 2083 to Ashwin 1, 2083:
- Shrawan 2083 has 31 days.
- Bhadra 2083 has 31 days.
- From Shrawan 1 to Ashwin 1 is therefore 62 days.
Because BS months have 29 to 32 days and change from year to year, you can't assume every month is 30 days. Look up the lengths for that year — for 2083 they are in the Nepali calendar 2083.
Should the end date count?
- Normal difference: from Day 1 to Day 2 is 1 day.
- Inclusive counting: both the start and end days are counted, so Day 1 to Day 2 is 2 days. Leave, rental periods and some contracts are often counted this way — check what your agreement says.
Counting across the new year
Crossing Chaitra into Baishakh works the same way: add the days left in Chaitra, then the days into Baishakh of the next year. Just use the right year's month lengths.
Days, weeks and months
- Weeks: divide the days by 7.
- Months: count completed calendar months first, then the remaining days — "1 month and 5 days" is clearer than "35 days" when month lengths differ.
